One of my fav songs is by singer/songwriter Andrew Peterson, “The rain keeps falling.” I feel it’s appropriate for our current weather, for it seems as though it’s never going to stop raining here.
The rain is a good metaphor for the seasons of life we go through. The ones that rain down upon us with unrelenting strength and power. There’s so many storms going on around us right now. Storms that seem to be darker than normal, storms that are getting harder to see through, and storms that make us wonder when God is going to deliver us and our nation from them.
“I don’t feel there’s an end to this season of night and the rain keeps falling down.
I just want to be new again. I just want to be closer to You again.
Help me be brave tonight. I’ve been calling and calling, but this rain just keeps falling and falling.”
Peace be still
Sometimes it feels like the darkness, the rain is never going to end. It feels like the pain will never truly disappear, and maybe, just maybe, it never will. Maybe part of the pain will always linger, there just on the edge, not cutting as sharp as it once did, but remaining as a memory of the times spent, of the laughter shared, and of the moments together.
Maybe these rain storms are a reminder for us to keep looking to Him for help, a reminder that He is still in control of our world, and that each and every storm we go through will always be held in His capable and protective hands.
Peace be still. Help me be brave tonight.

“He does whatever He pleases, in heaven, on earth, in the seas, and in all the ocean depths. He draws up the clouds that rise over the whole earth, He causes rain and the lightning to strike, and He summons the wind from His storehouses.” Psalm 135:6-7 Voice Bible
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
