Review of NKJV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible
As a member of the Harper Collins book review team, I’m reviewing the NKJV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible: Bringing to Life the Ancient World of Scripture.
Being an Adult Women’s Sunday school teacher I am constantly on the lookout for materials to help me connect the lessons taught to Biblical background. When I saw this Bible was going to be available as a review, I couldn’t wait to check it out. Containing the complete NKJV text printed on the familiar onion skin paper, this Bible is a hard cover featuring the words of Jesus in red. Advertised as being a Bible with “pages packed with expert insight into the customs, culture, and literature of Bible times…..and “explanations that will serve to clarify your study of the Scriptures, reinforcing your confidence and bringing difficult passages of Scripture into sharp focus,” it was everything it said it would be and more.
This Bible had everything I could ever wish for in a Bible. The study notes on each page were simply fantastic. The notes combined with the color photos, reference features, key topics, the charts, maps, illustrations, and diagrams, along with the additional Bible study tools, cross references, and a concordance pushed this Bible over the top as a new favorite of mine. I end up giving a lot of my books away after a review, but this one will be going in my personal collection as a study help. I’m so excited that it ended up being even more that I thought it would be, and I’m happy to give it five out of five stars and highly recommend it to all my readers.
